INCI - Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil.


What is it - Jojoba oil is a natural, liquid wax ester extracted from the seeds of the jojoba shrub, native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It closely mimics the skin’s natural sebum, making it highly effective for moisturising, balancing oil production, and enhancing skin barrier function. It’s prized for its stability, non-greasy feel, and versatility in a wide range of skincare and haircare products.

Formulas used in - moisturiser's, lotions, creams, body butters, balms, hair products, shaving cream, face oils, body oils, nail oil, serums.


Formulation notes - Where oil is the continuous phase utilise jojoba oil as it does not leave a greasy skin feel like other plant oils, it has a light skin feel. Good choice in face oils and also hair conditioners where a natural plant oil is needed. use in the oil phase when making emulsions. Combine with other carrier oils for a more elegant skin feel. Remember to always use an antioxidant such as tocopherol when using plant oils.

Odour - Mild neutral odour.


Form - Liquid oil.


Heat sensitivity - Heat stable.


Solubility - Oil soluble.


Natural / synthetic status - Natural.


Contraindications - Generally considered safe for most skin types. Those with allergies should heed caution. Always do a patch test when using new ingredients.
