Lupine Peptide

INCI: Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein.


What is it: Lupine Peptide is a plant derived peptide from the Lupine plant. It is used for its anti-aging properties and ability to improve skin elasticity, smooth out fine lines, and boost hydration while supporting the skin’s natural barrier function. It is also used in hair care for its good anti-static, rejuvenating and conditioning properties.


pH: Formulas containing peptides generally have more charges at pH 6–8 therefore try keep final formulas to this pH range.


Safety limit: Up to 40% but it is commonly used at concentrations of 0.5–5%.


Formulas used in: Serums, creams, lotions, masks, anti-aging treatments, moisturisers, eye creams, hair products.


Formulation notes: Lupine Peptide should be added during the cool-down phase to prevent degradation from heat, as it is sensitive to high temperatures. It also works best when kept in neutral to mildly acidic formulations.


Odour: Faint herbal odour.


Form: Clear yellow to amber liquid.


Heat sensitivity: Up to 40°C.


Solubility: Water soluble.


Natural / synthetic status: Naturally derived from the Lupine plant, but is generally synthetically produced for use in cosmetics.


Contraindications: No known contraindications, but as with any new ingredient, it’s advisable to patch test before full application, especially on sensitive skin.
