Vitamin E - Acetate
INCI - Tocopheryl Acetate.
What is it - Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of vitamin E it is used in skin and hair care for its moisturising properties and ability to support the skin barrier. Please note Tocopheryl Acetate offers no antioxidant protection for the formula itself. It should only be used for its skin benefits and not to provide antioxidant protection for the formula.
pH - Effective over a wide pH range.
Safety limit - Typical usage 0.1-0.5%. Safe to use in higher amounts however be mindful of cost and skin feel when used in higher amounts.
Formulas used in - Serums, creams, lotions, eye creams, hand creams, foot products, sunscreens, skin peels, hair products.
Formulation notes - Do not use as an antioxidant agent for your formula, use only for skin / hair benefits. Add in cool down phase in emulsions. Incompatible with strong oxidisers.
Odour - Slight characteristic odour.
Form - Yellow / green viscous oil.
Heat sensitivity - Up to 40°C.
Solubility - Oil Soluble.
Natural / synthetic status - Natural Tocopheryl Acetate INCI - D-alpha tocopheryl acetate. Synthetic Tocopheryl Acetate (DL-alpha tocopheryl acetate). Please check individual safety data sheets and INCIs to determine if you are using a natural or synthetic form.
Contraindications - No known contraindications, considered safe for most skin types.
